Mary Ellis Obituary
Our Valentine, Mary Katherine (Freeman) Ellis, a longtime resident of
Henryetta passed into Heaven peacefully the morning of Friday, July
16th, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 85. She was born February 14th, 1936 in
Weleetka to William Henry Freeman and Maudie P. (Henderson) Freeman.
Mary married Charles J. Ellis November 11th, 1958 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Henryetta where she is still a member.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charlie Ellis,
siblings, Hartsell Freeman, Paul Freeman, Calvin Freeman, Junior
Freeman, Orville Freeman, Louise Freeman and Judy Gobin.
Mary had a firm foundation in her faith with Jesus Christ. She brought
up her children on this same foundation focusing on prayer and
forgiveness. She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, flower
gardening, shopping trips, nature watching, writing, reading poetry,
listening to music, and spending time with her family. She was a kind
and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her
family and friends.
She is survived four children:
Cathy Freeman of Dallas, Texas;
Marva Henson & husband Neil of Henryetta;
Sharla Stephenson & husband Terry of Schulter;
Chuck Ellis of Henryetta;
Eight grandchildren: Brandi Campbell, Jay DeTurk, Adam Bowen, Laci
Robertson, Addison Davis, Gary Davis, Jr., Michael Davis and Raliegh
McCool.
Seven great grandchildren;
Siblings: Doug Freeman of Henryetta;
Margaret Viersen of Okmulgee;
Lois Watson of Las Vegas, Nevada;
Billy Freeman of Missouri;
Linda Niklas of Henryetta;
Smoke Gary Freeman of Henryetta;
Also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
A special thank you to thank you to Steven Carter with Grace Hospice,
Dr. Lee and 5th Floor North at St. Francis Hospital and Porta Caeli
Hospice House of Tulsa. Thank you also mom’s second family at the
Henryetta Community Skilled Healthcare Center, especially Rita and
“Betty”.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8am until 8pm with family present
to greet friends from 6pm until 8pm.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July
22nd, 2021 at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Tim Cole
officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery under direction of
Integrity Funeral Service.
