Mary Byrd Obituary

Mary Ann Byrd, 70, a resident of Henryetta, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, February 1st, 2024 inTulsa, Oklahoma. Mary was born on December 7, 1953, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Elizabeth (Mercies) and Robert Dennis Cummings.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Harold Byrd, parents, Jimmy Don Cummings and Mike Cummings

Mary was a proud alumna of the Schulter, Oklahoma public school system, where she completed her education with a spirit of determination. She embarked on the most challenging and rewarding of vocations right after high school, that of becoming a mother. Mary's life was enlivened by the birth of her son, Jade Cummings, and later by her daughter, Melissa Byrd. She lovingly embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom, pouring her energy and enthusiasm into cheering from the sidelines at various sporting events, celebrating every baseball hit, basketball score, and resolute wrestling match that featured her children.

With the same fervent dedication she displayed at home, Mary joined the workforce a Filtering Manufacturing company in Henryetta for several years until she would transition to Fountain View Manor, in the late 1990's there she invested many years in service. Her desire to help others did not stop there. Mary found her true calling when she ventured into counseling to help those in need at CREOKS. Her efforts in this field highlighted her innate ability to provide comfort, understanding, and support to everyone she worked with.

Throughout her life, Mary cultivated a deep admiration for the beauty of the outdoors, finding solace and joy in the company of the stunning red cardinals that often graced her presence. Her health may have limited her activities, but it never dampened her spirit or her enjoyment of precious moments spent with her cherished family.

Mary's legacy lives on through her beloved children, Jade Cummings of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and Melissa Byrd of Henryetta, Oklahoma; her adored grandchildren, Coburn Cummings, Damon Mouss, Auburn Child, Zeke Potts, Alice Potts, and Ian Cummings; great-granddaughter, Josie Cummings, and her sister, Pat Byrd of Dewar.

The words gentle, loving, and courageous encapsulate the essence of who Mary was. Her unwavering support and boundless love for her family will remain as a comforting beacon of her enduring spirit. Mary Ann Byrd's memory will be forever honored and deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
