Mary Ann Woods, a resident of Henryetta, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Henryetta at the age of 86. Mary was born on October 1, 1926 to Phillip Oliver and Julietta Lillian Persong Oliver.
Mary grew up in Illinois and moved to Oklahoma as a teenager. After graduating from high school, she worked at Ball Brothers Glass Plant where she spent 11 years as a quality control inspector. Mary was married to Ben Woods in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They were happily married for over 40 years before Ben's death in 1998. Mary enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren, and is widely known for her skill as a quilt maker. Everyone referred to Mary as "Nana". She was loved by her family and will be missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ben Woods; by both her mother and father; by 2 sisters and a step sister.
She is survived by three daughters , Joy Woods of Henryetta, Benita "Robbie" Busby and husband Randy of Grove, and Julie Ann Strong; grandchildren Jeremy Shatswell and wife Sheena, Ben McGowin and wife Christina, Katie Fowler and husband Kevin, Brittany Busby, Blake Busby, Christopher Hallam and fiancée Bsma, Michele Carter, Charles Carter, and Robert Hallam Carter; great grandchildren: Jaron Shatswell, Aurora Grunewald, Rayven McGowin, Tristin Fowler, Patience Fowler, Kimberlee Fowler, Samuel Fowler, Kadien Fowler, Blacey Olivia, Sasha Sierra, Shauna Verdusco, Anthony Verdusco, Analeise Markert, Melody Hallam, Chad Riselay, Kay Riselay, and Meghan Bourcier; and best friend, Faye McGowin.
Funeral services for Mary will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 2:00pm at Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Henryetta with Rev. Susie Stephens and Rev. Becky Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Shatswell, Ben McGowin, Kevin Fowler, Robert Carter, Christopher Hallam, and Blake Busby.
