Linda Britt Burney Obituary
Linda Kay Britt Burney, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, left us to be with the Lord on January 27, 2024, at the age of 68. She was a faith-filled woman who spent her final days surrounded by family in Dewar, Oklahoma, where she passed away. Born in Henryetta, Oklahoma, on August 22, 1955, to Charley and Ishmael Britt, she was the beacon of warmth and steadfastness in her family.
Linda graduated from Dewar High School and carried with her the pride of her alma mater throughout her life. She was a dedicated Dewar Dragon and an enthusiastic Oklahoma Sooner fan, but her greatest joy came from watching her beloved grandchildren play sports.
She was blessed with a large and loving family. Linda's legacy includes her daughters, Karen Jefferson and her husband Landon of Dewar, Samantha Payne and her husband Lyle of Sapulpa; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Whitney and her husband Timmy of Dewar, Brianna and her husband Joseph of Henryetta, Kayin of Sapulpa, Timothy and his wife Mackinze, and Maddisyn of Morris; and her adored great-grandchildren, Maddix of Dewar, Blakley, Gracyn, Wrenley, all of Dewar, Adalee of Henryetta, and Tyler and Weston of Duncan.
She is also survived by her brother Ira Britt and his wife Carolyn of Dewar, sisters-in-law, Drucellia Britt of Henryetta and Minnie Britt of Puyallup, Washington.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Ishmael Britt; her beloved grandsons, Timothy Jefferson, and Kelby Edwards; her sisters, Mary McCarroll and Lilly Shockley; and her brothers, William, Charles Junior, Johnny, Duke, Kenneth, Curt, and Jack Britt.
Linda was a member of Hoffman First Baptist Church. Her faith shaped her life and actions, providing light and strength to her and to everyone she touched. The mark she left on her community and family will shine brightly for generations to come.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Joe Fowler, officiating.
