Katherine Herring

Katherine Herring, a resident of Henryetta, passed away on November 07, 2022, in Henryetta, OK at the age of 77. She was born Wednesday, December 13, 1944, in Eufaula, OK to Sammie Dee & Clara ( Null) Lame.

Katherine married Jimmy Herring on August 3, 1962, in Savanna, OK and they were both teachers and taught at many different schools during their teaching careers. Katherine attended high school at Savanna High School and later attended Connors State College in Warner, OK, and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK where she received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education. Katherine taught school at Dewar Public Schools, Wyandotte Public Schools, and Okmulgee before her retirement. Katherine enjoyed a variety of activities including tennis, bowling, fishing, and gardening as well as music, art, but most of all she loved supporting her husband's coaching career, she was his most enthusiastic fan, and she loved being with family.

She recently achieved her lifelong goal of traveling to all fifty states with her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents.

Katherine is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jimmy Dale Herring, of the home; son, Steven Herring, of the home; daughters, Andrea Herring, Oklahoma City, OK, and Heather Herring, Miami, OK; pet boxer, Maggie, of the home; grandchildren, Kirstin Cooper, Dalton Cooper, Bre Herring and Landon Lawson; brother, Jimmy Lame, Tulsa, OK and Larry Lame and wife Yolonda, Savanna, OK; Also by a childhood best friend, Betty Jo.

Memorial services will be held at 1 PM on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Church of Christ in Henryetta, OK with Rex Walcher officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Katherine's name.
