Jared Been Obituary

Jared Daniel Been, of Beggs, passed away from this earth to join our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 7, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 42 years old.
He began his journey in this world on January 22, 1979 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to John and Jackie (Dickey) Been. Jared graduated from Dewar High School in 1998. He married Mandy Lanford on June 15, 2002 in Choctaw, Oklahoma. To know Jared, was to love Jared. A friend to everyone and an all-around family man that loved his wife and adored his kids, mom, dad, & brothers so fiercely.

Jared had a strong Christian background which shown through in his overwhelming generosity and charitable nature as his fellow congregation members at Nuyaka Baptist Church could attest. As a teenager, he worked at Falls Creek Youth Baptist Camp. He was also a member of the Okmulgee Elks Lodge #1822 and the Henryetta Lions Club. Because of his selflessness and giving nature, he recently received an award for his contribution and was named Henryetta Lions Club - Cub of the Year 2021. Jared was also a Mason at the Henryetta Lodge #201. He also loved being the Voice of Dragon Football during home games on Friday night, especially since his brother Josh is the head football coach and his nephew Marshall is a senior this year.

He was a member of the Local 112 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a radiographer for various pipeline companies for many years. Jared quit pipelining to start the Beens’ Workshop woodworking business with his brother Kerry in 2020. That is where he developed a love for game of cornhole. Through Jared’s networking and connections, he quickly became the Regional Director of the Oklahoma Cornhole Association. Throwing cornhole bags rapidly developed into a passion of his. He and Mandy traveled all over Oklahoma and surrounding states to various cornhole competitions.

Jared is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Merl and Mina Dickey and his paternal grandparents, Carrol and Augusta Been.

He is survived by his wife, Mandy of the home; his three children, daughters Madyson Jacy and Avery Danielle of the home and son Silas Tucker of the home; his parents, John and Jackie Been of Tiger Mountain; two brothers, Kerry and his wife, Billie Jean, of Dewar and Joshua and his wife, Kiersten of Tiger Mountain, brother in-law, Darrell Lanford and his wife, Michelle of Aledo, Texas, sister in-law, Ginger Standing and husband, Cameron of Durango, Colorado; five nieces, Chelsea Been of Oklahoma City, Skye Been of Tahlequah, Anberlin Lanford of Aledo, Texas, Raina Been of Tiger Mountain, and Logan Standing of Durango, Colorado; four nephews Greg Bezzell of Muskogee, Marshall Been of Tiger Mountain, Phoenix Lanford of Aledo, Texas, and Orin Standing of Durango, Colorado; his in-laws, Darrell and Nancy Lanford of Durango, Colorado; a bonus brother, Brian Bishop of Rockwall, Texas and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, & many friends.
