Jane Lee Martin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Born on July 7, 1929, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Jane led a life marked by kindness, love, and selflessness.
Jane was a dedicated member of her family, leaving behind a legacy of love and care. She is survived by her four children: Jan Stacy and her husband Larry of Fordyce, Arkansas, Raynell Hill and her husband Ross of Edmond, Oklahoma, Priscilla Bordenkircher and her husband Michael, of Fredricksburg, Virginia, and her son, Ed Martin, and his wife Lisa of Edmond, Oklahoma. Jane was also a cherished grandmother to sixteen grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to forty-four great-grandchildren. Her loss will also be deeply felt by a host of friends and relatives who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A graduate in nursing, Jane dedicated her life to the service of others. She worked tirelessly as a registered nurse at Rebold Manor, Oklahoma Christian, Children's Hospital, and the Red Cross. Jane's commitment to her profession was unwavering, and she left an unforgettable mark on all those whose lives she touched through her work.
Jane was an active member of the United Pentecostal Church in Edmond. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a beacon of light and hope within her community. Her interests were simple yet profound. Jane loved to color and draw, finding joy and peace in the simple act of creating. She was also known for her love of coffee and Fererro Roche chocolate, indulgences she enjoyed sharing with those around her. Jane had a playful spirit and loved to tease those around her about giving them a 'spanking,' which was always a gentle love pat on the bottom.
Jane's life was a testament to the words of Mother Teresa who said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." This quote perfectly encapsulates Jane's life, as she was not only loving and kind, but also selfless. She made a significant impact on the lives of others, not through grand gestures, but through countless small acts of kindness and love.
Jane Lee Martin was a woman who lived her life with grace, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. We take comfort in knowing that her life was filled with love and that she is now at peace.
In Jane's memory, we should all strive to live by her example, to show kindness in our actions, love in our words, and selflessness in our deeds.
