Donald Alva Hummingbird

Donald Alva Hummingbird, known to friends and family as Don, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on October 17, 1956, in Kansas to Ellis Sequoyah Hummingbird and Carolyn (Lloyd) Hummingbird. Don lived a life full of love, laughter, and music.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Hummingbird of the home; his son, Julian Moon Hummingbird of Tulsa; his daughter, Johanna Hummingbird of Coweta, Oklahoma; and his two cherished grandchildren, Chandler Hummingbird and Haven Tackett. He is also survived by his siblings, Tara Hummingbird of Ann Arbor, MI, Trina McConnell of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Geri Hummingbird and husband Joe Bulka, and Cathy Witherspoon and husband Mark. Don's memory will live on through his nephews and nieces, Ben Lowe, Sam Lowe, Ray McConnell, Elijah McConnell, Brett Bulka, Connor Bulka, Aaron Shuman and wife Alli, and Conor Witherspoon, as well as his great-niece, Izella Wren Shuman, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Don was a man of many interests, but his greatest passions were fishing, playing the guitar, and listening to guitar licks. He spent countless hours on the water, casting his line, noodling and enjoying the serenity of nature. Don's love for music was evident in his impressive guitar style and the joy he found in playing. He had a keen ear for a great guitar lick and could often be found listening to his favorite tunes with a smile on his face. He was a very hard working man.

Family was at the heart of Don's life, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Whether it was a simple family dinner or a large gathering, Don's presence was always felt, and his laughter was contagious.

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Viewing will be from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Integrity Funeral Service.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Wesley VanMeter, officiating. Interment will follow at Hanna cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Integrity Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Moon Hummingbird, Chandler Hummingbird, Steven Epperson, Gabriel Givens, Dylan Hight, and Russell Lininger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leroy Wilson, Lee Gouge, Brett Bulka, Connor Bulka, Eli McConnell, Ray McConnell, Ben Lowe, Sam Lowe, Aaron Shuman, Conor Witherspoon, and Chebon Wauahdooah, Seth Thomas, Roger Rhodes, Travis Simpson and Archie Simpson.
