Wanda Sue Forrest, 65, of Henryetta, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, November 25th, 2021 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma after a long illness.
Wanda was born on June 25, 1956 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Pauline and Clarence (Shorty) Forrest. She was a graduate of Henryetta High School and OSU Technical College. She worked for a short time for Creek Nation before marrying Thomas Mayes. She and Thomas had two children who did not survive their premature births.
Wanda had three sisters, Elsie, Linda and Paula. Being much younger than her sisters, Wanda became their living doll. They enjoyed treating her to tea parties and little trips to show off their cute little sister. Of course, they had to dress her up and take pictures.
After growing up and getting married, Wanda and Tommy spent several summers working at Silver Dollar City. They loved showing their friends around when they came to visit Branson. Wanda and Tommy eventually grew apart and divorced in 2004.
Wanda never remarried but spent her remaining years enjoying life with her many friends and family. She was a great fan of OU Football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball teams. She and her pet turtle, Murry, enjoyed watching ball games on T.V.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Forrest, her ex-husband, Thomas Mayes, her two children, Chrystal Sue Mayes and Joshua Daniel Mayes, her nephew, Jimmy Lewis and niece, Stephanie Lovett.
She is survived by her mother, Pauline Forrest, sisters, Elsie Shaffer and husband Thor, Linda Lewis and husband Jim, and Paula Jennings and husband Rick, aunts, Lou Crofut and Pauline Counts, special friends, Wesley Barnett, Thomasine Long, Renee Fitchler, Mary Curry and too many special cousins to list.
