Olo Akins

October 31, 1960 — June 9, 2025

Robert Doyle Akins Jr., affectionately known as "Olo" peacefully departed this life, Monday, June 9th, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in Henryetta. Robert was born October 31st, 1960 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Fenicia Ann (Evans) and Robert Doyle Akins Sr.

Olo is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dina Thompson and brother-in-law Fred Thompson

Olo was a spirited guy with a sharp wit whose presence in a room was always known. He was a loving brother, the favorite uncle, the wildest son, the coolest cousin and the strongest nephew who was always willing to jump in and help with whatever project was underway. He was a great friend with a generous heart and made everyone feel like they were part of his family. He gave practical advice (not always solicited) buried in the most random one-liners. He was a man of strength, kindness, deep integrity, and quite an anchor, in the lives of many.

Olo was a hard-working man who spent his early years selling insurance in Houston, Texas After moving back to Oklahoma, he began a career in the pipeline industry with IUOE local 112. Once he retired. He filled his time with carpentry, caught a few fish, hit a few jackpots and played as much bingo as he possibly could. He loves sports, sports betting and watching games with his friends.

Olo is survived by his family: two sisters, Robbie Blades and husband James of Henryetta, Rebecca Akins from Checotah, uncles, Robert Evans of Henryetta, David Evans and wife Jimmie Ann of Henryetta, nieces, Amanda Weimer and wife Whitney of Checotah, Jennifer Weimer of Henryetta, Trudi Blades of Henryetta, Alysha Spangler of Houston, Texas, nephews, Cody Blades and wife Kimberly of Schulter, Freddie Thompson and wife Maira of Florida, great-nieces Kenadi Tyrrell of Henryetta, Taylor Hodge of Henryetta, great-nephew, Crew Blades of Schulter, as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends who loved him deeply and stood by his side in life and in his final days, the memories we all have of Olo are a testament to a life well lived and a life lived pretty much, on HIS OWN TERMS. What a beautiful life that was!

Rest easy, Olo.

Officiating: Pastor James Williams
