Patricia Ruth Hicks, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Monday, November 30th, 2020 in Okmulgee at the age of 88. She was born January 18th, 1932 in Anadarko to Marvin Gillette and Dorothy (Roberts) Gillette. She married Byron Van Hicks January 1, 1960 in Burns Flat, Oklahoma.
Momma worked at banks in Anadarko and Oklahoma City before marrying and moving to Sulphur, where she dedicated herself to being the best wife and mom she could be. She taught Sunday School for over 40 years, was a boy scout and Brownie troop leader, volunteered at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital, and was everyone’s favorite home room mom! She also worked in her husband’s family business, Hicks Service. She ALWAYS had at least one dog, and was a devout chocolate milkshake and chocolate chip cookie fan. Her hobbies included playing Canasta and dominoes, working picture puzzles, and solving word searches. Momma’s contagious smile was genuine and came straight from knowing Jesus. She would want you to know Him, too.
Preceded in death by her husband, Byron Van Hicks, her father Marvin Gillette, her mother Dorothy Gillette, both brothers, Guy and Paul Gillette, and a daughter in law Teresa Hicks.
Survived by her daughter Sheri Hicks Witham and husband Randy of Henryetta. their children Corbet Dean and wife Kimberly, their 3 children Hayley, Byron, and Hayden, Alex Matthew of New Hartford, NY, Christopher Don and Mercy, their baby McKinlee, and Brittany Lachey of Henryetta. a son, Gary Hicks of Boley, his son, Gary Don, and daughter Janetta Marie. Great grandchildren Nathan, Brooklyn, Tielyn, Harlee, and Masyn.
Viewing for Patricia will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Terry Pitman and Rev. Scott Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., in Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur. Services are under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
