Norman Francis Asbury, a resident of Okemah, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 67. He was born May 7, 1959, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to William Asbury and Judy (Soweka) Asbury.

He was a proud veteran serving in the United States Navy from 1985-1989.

He was a member of the Ryal Community Baptist Church and the Hickory Ground ceremonial ground. Above all, Norman adored his children and grandchildren and was proud to be known as the best dad and Papa around.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Hill; his grandparents, Lewis Soweka and Wisey Soweka; his niece, Georgina Hill; and his nephew, Chad Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Chumona Deere, of the home; his children, Manotchka, Maneetah, and Yoniyah; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Tulsa; two sisters, Liz Jones and Bonnie Soweka; along with many other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service.

Wake services are scheduled for 7:00 PM at Hickory Ground #1 Indian Baptist Church in rural Henryetta.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hickory Ground #1 Indian Baptist Church, with Reverend Mitchell Taylor officiating and Deacon Richard Phillips, assisting. Interment will follow at the Deere Family Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
