Lou Alice Panoske, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on July 6, 2025, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, at the age of 55. She was born on March 24, 1970, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Samuel Gene Whitlow and Mary Alice (Black) Panoske.
Lou grew up in Henryetta and attended Henryetta Public Schools, where she proudly served as the Henryetta Hens mascot. She was also All State in shot put and discus. After high school, she continued her education at Bacone College and Oklahoma State University. She was baptized and a member of Montesoma Indian Baptist Church. In time, she began her greatest calling-raising her five sons, whom she loved deeply and devoted her life to.
Known affectionately by many in the Ada community as "Mama Lou," Lou was a hardworking, nurturing, and strong woman who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a guiding light not only to her own children but also to countless others who came into her life.
She had a creative spirit and found joy in crocheting, singing hymns and lullabies to her children, and watching her favorite shows like NCIS and Little House on the Prairie. Family gatherings brought her great happiness, and her love for those closest to her was always at the center of her life.
Lou was preceded in death by her beloved son, Stormy Siah Yargee and maternal grandmother June Panoske.
She is survived by her sons: Micah James Panoske of Wewoka; Nicco Kvcv Yargee and wife Sonji of Ada; Tustenuggee Misley Yargee of Wewoka; and Fuscvtv Wind Yargee of Wewoka. She also leaves behind her parents: Sharon and Edward Mouss of Henryetta; Mary Black of Denton, Colorado; and Samuel Whitlow of Morris.
Her memory will also be cherished by her siblings: Christy, Micah Phillips, Kylie King, Jason Shannon, Eddie Mouss, Lea Mouss, Sharry Mouss, and Tamara Whitlow; as well as her aunts and uncles: Speedy Harley, Katie Yellowfish, and Phyllis Panoske; and a large extended family of cousins and dear friends.
A Wake Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Montesoma Indian Baptist Church. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, also at Montesoma Indian Baptist Church, with Rev. Jody Berryhill and Rev. Eugene Whitlow officiating.
