Johnny Ray Barnett, a lifelong resident of Henryetta passed away Thursday, August 21st, 2025 surrounded by family at his home in rural Henryetta. He was born February 29, 1932 in Henryetta to Grover Barnett and Artie (Yates) Barnett.
He graduated from St. Michael Catholic School in 1950 and later became a proud member of the United States Navy. He was a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict.
In 1955 he married Juanita Benton and after her passing he married Sondra J. Self in 1962. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of Tulledega Masonic Lodge #201. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He worked several jobs and retired from PPG Industries in Henryetta, afterward he was best known for John's Phillips 66 at highway 75 and Trudgeon street.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, J.T., Captain, Junior, Lloyd, Glenn, and Bob Barnett, also by a sister, Nancy Whaley.
He is survived by his wife Sondra J. Barnett of the home;
His children, Joni Insabella and husband John;
Blake Barnett & wife Ginger; Bobby Barnett and wife Shelly;
Grandchildren: Megan Schmitt, Joshua Vitt, Jill Pugh, Amanda Barnett, Brooke Adams, Robert Kyle Barnett, and John Ryan Barnett;
Great grandchildren: Hudson Schmitt, Seaton Schmitt, Deedee Vitt, Gabriel Pugh, Charlotte Pugh, Jack Jones, Aiden Adams, Felix Barnett and Elias Barnett;
One brother, Troy Barnett, sisters-in-laws, Jane Oliver and Julene Benton Shoun; a brother-in-law, Eddie Benton as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
A visitation will by from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Integrity Funeral Service with family available to greet friends.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations by made to Masonic Scholarship Fund or the VFW.
Pallbearers will be, John Insabella, Joshua Vitt, Robert Kyle Barnett, John Ryan Barnett, Hudson Schmitt, Gabriel Pugh, Jack Jones, Jason Schmitt, Cody Pugh and Greg Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be, Scott Milam, Gary Sparks, Jeff Sparks, Kelby Morgan, John Owens, and Hunter England.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30th, 2025 at Integrity Chapel with Masonic Rites by Tulledega Masonic Lodge and military honors provided by the United States Navy. Services are under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
The family would like to express their gratitude with a special thank you for the care and love you gave our father. We are grateful for the VA nurses, Seasons Hospice Staff, Jill Pugh, and also Robert Kyle Barnett for officiating the service.
