With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ila Lucille Berryhill
(Smith), who departed this world peacefully on July 17, 2026, at the
age of 84. Born on August 22, 1941, in the small town of Schulter,
Oklahoma, Ila was a beacon of warmth and kindness, touching the lives
of all who knew her. Ila was the cherished daughter of Orbin and Amy
Smith (Dock), who instilled in her a deep love for family and
community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her
sister Loretta Heath, and her devoted husband, Lucien W. Berryhill,
with whom she shared many beautiful years in Henryetta, Oklahoma. A
devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and lovingly known as "Meemaw"
to her grandchildren, Ila dedicated her life to nurturing her family.
Her enduring love and wisdom will continue to guide her daughter, Rachel
S. Morris, and son, Aaron Morris. She is also survived by her brother
Clarence Smith and his wife, Margie, and sister, Phyllis Berryhill, who
shared countless cherished memories with Ila. Ila's legacy is carried
forward by her grandchildren-Michelle L. Morris, Amber D. Morris,
and Adam J. Morris-and her great-granddaughter, Amelia, who
brought immense joy to her later years. Her family was her pride and
joy, and she relished every moment spent in their company. A woman
of simple pleasures, Ila found joy in fishing, solving crossword puzzles,
and surrounding herself with her family and friends.
These pastimes brought her peace and contentment, and she was always ready with a
smile and a story to share. Family and friends are invited to witness her
burial at Little Cussetah Church in Henryetta, Oklahoma on Friday, the
28th of August, at 2PM. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to
Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, for their compassionate care and
support during Ila's final days. Their kindness provided comfort to both
Ila and her children in her last moments. Ila will be deeply missed, but
her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of
knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved
ones, and forever fishing in tranquil waters.
