Gary Ron Vanzant

Gary Ron Vanzant, a resident of Checotah, passed away April 6, 2026, in Checotah, Oklahoma at the age of 68. He was born on Friday, November 8, 1957, in Topeka, Kansas to Donald Lee Vanzant and Barbara Lou (Youngblood) Vanzant.

Gary spent many years working in the oilfield, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and expressing his creativity in various ways. He found peace on the water and took pride in the things he could create with his hands.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry Don Vanzant Sr. and Terry Vanzant; and his nephew, Larry Don Vanzant Jr.

Gary is survived by his children, Gary Ron Vanzant Jr., Levi Little Vanzant, Crystal Vanzant, and Brandon Ron Vanzant. He is also survived by his brothers, Steve Vanzant and Donald Vanzant. He leaves behind a loving legacy through his grandchildren: Chole Wright, Carly Wright, Carson Vanzant Wilbanks, Alexander Vanzant Wilbanks, Braden Vanzant, Nova Vanzant, Niah Vanzant, Allyssa Vanzant, Gary Vanzant III, and Summer Vanzant; as well as three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will dearly miss him.
