Eldon Wallace Overson
July 16, 1943 — August 24, 2022
Eldon Wallace Overson, a resident of Henryetta, passed away on August 24, 2022 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 79. He was born on July 16, 1943 in Ponca, Nebraska, to Eldo Overson & Margaret (Pansegrau) Overson.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was very proud to be a veteran. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 85 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Eldon was a member of the Norwegian Grove Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota.
Eldon worked for many years and retired from the local glass plant as production manager. He enjoyed his retirement years doing woodwork and was very talented creating unique furniture, clocks and other woodwork pieces. He was a great gardner and enjoyed bird watching and had the best black berry bushes to pick from.
He is preceded in death by his parents and oldest son, Paul Overson.
Eldon is survived by his son; Gary Overson and wife Sara Kaler, of Henryetta, Oklahoma, two brothers; Steve Overson and wife Sharon of Gaylord, Minnesota, and Mark Overson of Gaylord, Minnesota, and his home companion; Betty Patterson and son, Chris Patterson. He is also survived by the mother of his children; Geraldine Overson of Boy River, Minnesota, grandson; Will Kaler and wife Nikki of Henryetta, Oklahoma, granddaughter; Dana Kaler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, great granddaughter; Kenleigh Kaler, great grandson; Cole Kaler.
He was called "Poppa O" by Kenleigh and Cole and they through the world of him. Kenleigh often drew him pictures and made cards for him. He was very proud of the Veteran picture she drew that now hangs in the Legion as well as pieces of his own woodwork that he donated to the hall.
A celebration of life dinner will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the American Legion Post 85 in Henryetta, Oklahoma and to sign his memory book. Gary and Sarah will travel to Minnesota at a later date for graveside inurnment with military honors with family present.
