Donald Charles Carlton, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, at the age of 92. Born on April 23, 1933, in Fresno, California, to Melvin and Mary (Guzzi) Carlton, Donald lived a life filled with passion, creativity, and service.
Donald's commitment to his country was evident in his service with the U.S. Navy from November 1955 to August 1957, where he served with pride and was honorably discharged. His love for music brought joy to those around him, as he skillfully played the guitar and organ, filling his home with melody. A man of many talents, Donald was an avid photographer, capturing life's moments through the lens of old-school photography. His craftsmanship shone in his woodworking projects, and he spent countless hours tinkering in his garage and shop, always creating something new. An enthusiastic fisherman and a gifted cook, Donald found delight in nature and in sharing meals with loved ones.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mary Carlton; his brother, Tony Carlton; and, most recently, his son, Wesley Carlton, who passed away on May 4, 2025. Their loss leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew them.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Myra Carlton, with whom he shared a life of love and companionship in Henryetta. Donald's legacy continues through his children: daughter Theresa Cruz of Aurora, Colorado; daughter Donna Pontius and her husband Roger of Aurora, Colorado; and son Michael Carlton and his wife Millicent of San Dimas, California. His eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren will carry forward his warmth and spirit, along with a host of relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Integrity Funeral Service.
Graveside services, with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy, are scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Westlawn Cemetery. Services are under the care of Integrity Funeral Service.
