A deeply loved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. A deeply rooted Creek Native, an amazing cook, a writer, a poet, a soulful reader, a comedian, a dancer, a singer, a world traveler, a gardener, a warrior. Cindy LeAnn McIntosh, 59, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on May 21, 2025. Cindy bravely and fiercely walked this Earth every day until her passing. She was born on March 20, 1966, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was raised and spent most of her early childhood in Richardville, Oklahoma. Cindy was saved and baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at Deep Fork Hillabee Baptist Church. She then moved and resided in Checotah, Oklahoma for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Checotah High School in 1984 where she was an extraordinary student and basketball player. In 2008, she received her Associate's in Science Nursing Degree from Connors State College.
Whether cozying up with a book or coloring book or fishing in the Illinois River, Cindy was always ready for an adventure. She loved seeing the world, people watching and trying new food. She traveled all up and down the East coast, lived shortly in Virginia and Florida and most recently visited the mountains of Wyoming. She loved watching her girls and grandchildren play sports, attend band competitions, and everything in between. You would hear her cheering loudly from the stands no matter what the event, she was there. She loved spoiling her girls and grandchildren more than anything. Giving them everything that made their hearts happy. Especially her hugs. She gave the best hugs. And she would never leave McDonalds without picking up a special order for her furry boys, Rocky and Lil Bittie. Cindy loved true crime documentaries, the food network and practicing with new recipes for her family. Which were always a hit! She also loved her sports. During softball season you would find her watching OU softball girls. Now she and her momma can cheer on their teams together.
Cindy was most recently a Registered Nurse for the Muscogee Creek Nation Hope Unit. With 17 years' experience, she was extremely knowledgeable in many different nursing specialties. Cindy loved being a nurse and helping others. Her deepest nursing love was providing care for the elderly. Cindy believed that caring for the elderly was of the highest regard and should be done so with deep love and conviction. Nursing was her calling. Cindy never stood for anything less than high quality care for all her patients. She stood strong, advocated and fought hard for her patients and their families. Her level of care and passion never wavered. Even when she got sick, Cindy still worried about her little people, her patients.
Cindy is survived by her girls; Robi Jones and husband Jason Jones, Brittany McIntosh and husband TK Thongdeenok, and Bradee Hall; grandchildren Railee, Landon and Peyton; sister Tafv Braxton and husband John Braxton; nephew Tony McIntosh and wife Amber McIntosh; niece Nikkee Teague and husband Jimmy Teague; great-nephews Blake McIntosh and Riggin Teague; great-nieces Allison Teague and Layla McIntosh and cousins Brad Fox and Marci Fox.
