Carol Sue Dieterle Bardin entered eternal rest on Friday, February 27, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 72.
Carol was born on July 17, 1953, in Dixon, Illinois, to Aloysius J. Dieterle, Sr. and Mary A. Vogelsang Dieterle. She graduated from Newman Central Catholic High School in Sterling, Illinois, in 1971. Moving to Davenport Iowa Carol attended the Sawyer College of Business. Shortly after graduation, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she joined three sisters and one brother and began working as a secretary and bookkeeper.
After relocating to Morris, Oklahoma, Carol met the love of her life, Gary Bardin. They first met in a local bar, and as Carol fondly told the story, Gary made her laugh - so she bought him a "soda". Carol was always ready to celebrate life or head off on a spontaneous adventure. On July 15, 2005, during a special trip, Carol and Gary were united in marriage, sharing eighteen wonderful years together.
After moving to Henryetta, Oklahoma, Carol began working at the Oklahoma State University bookstore, a position she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Gary G Bardin, by her parents, Aloysius J. Dieterle, Sr. and Mary A. Dieterle; her sister, Kathleen Anne Dieterle; her paternal grandparents, Ernest M. and Helen L. Vock Dieterle; and her maternal grandparents, Charles and Lucile Bartel Vogelsang.
Carol was the fifth of ten children and is survived by her sisters: Cheryl A. Gardner; Mary A. Rahm (John); Donna M. Robbins (Gary); Helen L. Kappmeyer (Frank); and Julia A. Kashou (Charley); and her brothers: William E. Dieterle (Norma); Daryl J. Dieterle (Cathy); and Aloysius J. Dieterle, Jr. (Becky).
She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Wanda Bardin; her brother-in-law, Gerald Bardin (Jennifer); her sisters-in-law, Gayle Ledbetter (Chris), and Gina Scott (Larry); and her stepchildren, Tania Bardin, Brittany Roberds, Wesley Bardin and six grandchildren.
