Margaret Joyce (Dudley) Thomas

Margaret Joyce Thomas, a longtime Henryetta resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at her home in Henryetta at the age of 68. Joyce was born on February 28, 1947 in McAllen, Texas to Charley Dudley and Juanita Carrel Dudley.

Joyce grew up in the Henryetta area, attended Henryetta Public Schools, and graduated from Henryetta High School with the Class of 1965. Joyce was employed for several years at the One Stop Convenience Store in Henryetta before going to work for Safeway in Henryetta. Joyce was the smiling face of Safeway and worked as a cashier/checker in the grocery store. She worked at Safeway and Homeland for approximately 27 years, retiring in 1996.

Joyce married the love of her life, Doyal Ray Thomas on June 16, 1967 in Henryetta. They remained married for 46 wonderful years until Doyal's death in May, 2013. She was a longtime member of the Henryetta Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed working in her garden. Most of all, Joyce will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and she will be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Doyal, who died May 2, 2013; both her mother and father; and by her father-in-law, David Thomas.

She is survived by her son, Derrick Thomas and wife Tabitha of Henryetta; three grandchildren, Dalton Thomas, Aubree Thomas and Zachary Russell, all of Henryetta; two sisters, Charlene Roland and husband Henry of Okmulgee and Vickie Sanders and husband Art of Muskogee; a mother-in-law, Florene Thomas of Henryetta; a brother-in-law, Ron Thomas and wife Lisa of Henryetta; two sisters-in-law, Gaye Newton and husband Jim of Henryetta and Derhonda Andrews and husband Don of Tiger Mountain; by numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and many good friends.

Viewing for Joyce will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 3pm until 8pm and on Sunday from noon until 8pm at Integrity Funeral Service.

A funeral service for Joyce will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 2:00pm at Integrity Chapel in Henryetta with Dr. Audie Swinney officiating. Interment will follow immediately at New Sonora Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.

Pallbearers will be Steve Saunders, Zachary Russell, Jeff Ream, Randy Roland, Ron Thomas, and Bryan Dodson. Honorary bearers will be all former co-workers of Joyce from Safeway/Homeland.

The family has designated the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718 as appropriate for memorial contributions.
