Lloyd Barnett Obituary

Lloyd Dwayne Barnett passed from this life at the age of 79 on May 6th surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Lloyd was one of nine children born to Grover and Artie Barnett in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Judith Ann Barnett; his parents; brothers, J.T., Cap, Junior and a sister, Nancy Whaley.
Lloyd served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio and later in Guam. He also served in the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Infantry Brigade.
Lloyd worked for years as an industrial X-ray technician before starting his own X-ray and heat- treating business. The years of success he enjoyed never changed him. Hard working, humble and altruistic to the very end. Rarely did he do anything for himself. Doing for others brought him the most joy.
Everyone who knew Lloyd had a humorous story about him, something he did or said that brought laughter. He was good spirited in all seasons with a quick wit that brought a smile to those around him. Even in death, he displayed a spirit of excellence, never complaining, all the while assuring others that everything was okay.
Lloyd’s was Pentecostal and believed in Acts 2:38. He first came to know the Lord at the Gospel Tabernacle in Henryetta, Oklahoma in 1969. Since that time, he served the church body in many capacities throughout his life. Work and life’s events would bring him to many places throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and later to Louisiana, but it was fitting that his journey would bring him back to the Gospel Tabernacle where his walk with God first began.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Clark and husband Jeff of Lake Charles, LA; son Todd and wife Lori of Fulshear, TX; grandsons Chandler and Parker Barnett; granddaughter Sandie Clark; brothers Johnny, Troy, Glen and Robert as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Pastor Joshua Bauer of the Gospel Tabernacle for the spiritual leadership and compassionate care he showed during Lloyd’s final days. The family would also like to thank Uncle Troy and Helen and Uncle Johnny and Aunt Sondra as well as Lloyd’s dear friends, Judy and Olan McElhannon, Tammy Finch, Felicia Cummings and Roberta Clinton for the love and care they showed to Lloyd. What a blessing you all have been. The family would also like to thank Shandon Cummings for the joy his visits brought to Lloyd during his illness.
A graveside service will be held in Sulphur, LA.
