The family then moved to San Antonio for a short time and then to Albuquerque where he spent most of his school years. Upon his father's death in 1966, Joe and his mother moved to Okmulgee to be near his aunt.

He attended Okmulgee High School for his senior year. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Navy and did two tours of duty in VietNam. During their marriage, they lived in Okmulgee, Tulsa, Wilson and mainly in Henryetta.

Joe worked at Midland Glass/Anchor Glass for thirty-five years until he retired in 2010 due to Parkinson's disease. Then in the last two years he battled melanoma, which took his life on March 5th.

During his life, his favorite things were his family, fishing and his Mustang and car shows. He also enjoyed traveling with his family.
