Norman Edward Lowe was born August 3, 1921, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Tom and Dollie (Wynn) Lowe. He passed away, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at his home in Henryetta, Oklahoma with his daughter at his side.
He served with the US Army, serving in the Philippines. He worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. until his retirement. He also served as Chairman of the Board of the First Family Credit Union. He earned his GED as an adult. Norman was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church for 63 years.
Norman was a man of honesty, integrity, and kindness. He was a good friend to many and will be missed by all. He was always eager to help. His work ethic was excellent in whatever he did. As his daughter, He is my life map.
He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Dollie Lowe, one sister, Cledith Allen and one brother, Bill Lowe. Also preceding him in death are his wife of 56 years, Katherine in 1996, sons Norman Edward in 1972, and Michael in 1999, and son in law Roy Gonterman in 2011.
He is survived by his daughter, Ruthann Gonterman of Moore, Oklahoma. Three grandchildren, Lisa Bray and fiancée Jody Stiefer of Oklahoma City, Norman Eric Gonterman and fiancé Sandy Harney and her son Kyle of Moore, Anna Gonterman and husband Kenton of Lindsey, Oklahoma. One sister, Helen Beatty of Michigan and nieces and nephews.
He has many friends and loved them all especially Tom and Lavena Rush, John Doneti, Ruby and Garland Ward. He gave us a lifetime of memories to hold close.
The family wants to extend our most sincere and heartfelt thanks to George Nigh Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care and most especially to his home health care nurse, Janice Spurlock. She is truly an angel – a treasure to all.
Norman lived his life with hard work and determination. He always put his family first. The loss we feel is heavy and we will shed a million tears, but he will have no more suffering or sleepless nights which gives us comfort and peace.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Peter Phung, officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery with full military honors. Services are under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
