Johnny Mae Melton Fox was born July 23, 1938 in Hitchita, Oklahoma at her parents’ home. She was the fourth child to be born to John Melton and Ivalene (Scott) Melton. She departed this life and entered her eternal home on August 31, 2017.

Johnny attended Grayson Public School. After completing 12th grade she attended college in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She met and married Harvey C. Fox, Sr. and raised her family in Grayson, Oklahoma.

In 1961, she started working for OSU Extension Nutrition Program and then Langston University took over the program. She worked for 17 years.

Johnny Mae served on Water Board, Union Baptist, Mission, Youth Department, Secretary.

Johnny Mae loved to sew, craft and work with the Youth Department at Union Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John & Ivalene Melton, grandson, Harold Fox Jr., two sisters, Maxine Adams & Doris Galberth.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harvey Fox of the home;
Six children, Ronald Melton & wife Vicki of Grayson;
Harold Fox, Sr. & wife Derrie of Grayson;
Harvey C. Fox, Jr. of Grayson;
Denise Payne & husband Ronald of Bay City, Texas;
Daughter, JoAnn Fox of Grayson;
Oscar Fox of Grayson;
Eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren & one great-great grandchild;
Five sisters, Barbara McDermott of Grayson;
Helen Melton of California;
Ivalene Melton of Okmulgee;
Sharon Dean of Stone Mountain, Georgia;
Donna Smith of Tulsa;
Three brothers, Edward Melton of Grayson;
Charles Melton of Checotah;
John Melton of Grayson;
A special nephew, Demetre Theus;
Also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Viewing will be from noon until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Integrity Funeral Service with family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Union Baptist Church in Grayson with Rev. Jerrell Ivy officiating. Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery under direction and care of Integrity Funeral Service.
